Crochet Doily

Hello friends !!!

Hope you are all doing good :)

Short and easy doily patterns are my favourite. So after finishing off my table cover project which I shared in my last blog post I am back to crocheting doilies.

I got this pattern from pinterest & the finished doily measures approx. 17" across. I have made few changes though on the edges as I was having difficulty in understanding the design in this section. To make this I have used Red Heart Mercerised Cotton & hook sized 1.75mm.

Would also like to share my art work which I have trying to practise on a regular basis.....

This is still life using water colour pencils & dry pastels

In this one tried to replicate actual leaf with coloured pencils. On the right hand side is the actual piece & the left side is the sketched one...

Do let me know how you like my work ...

Hopefully will see you next week with another crafty project. Till then have a wonderful time !!!:)

My sketchbook - 2018

Hi !!!!

These are the drawings that I have made in the past few weeks.

This is a freehand mandala on A3 size cartridge sheet. I have used marker pens, water colour pencils for the mandala & have painted flowers using water colours.

I found this beautiful landscape on youtube channel & wanted to give it a try. .. This is how it has come out. If I compare it with the original it has quite many flaws , but still I am happy with the end result.

Do have a look & let me know your views on the above.

See you next time with another creative arty project :)

Have a lovely weekend !!!:)

Hello 2018 !!!

With this positive thought I would like to share my first blog post in 2018

I completed this pink coloured doily sized 19" in dia. The pattern is from Pinterest and I am very happy with the outcome.

While making this I was thinking that my stash is filled with various shades of pink colour only. Need to get more colours.:) Can anyone suggest some good online shops to buy crochet threads /yarn ????? Currently I am purchasing from Pradhan Embroidery, but this new year I want to explore a bit :)

I also finished my madhubani drawing. I have incorporated warli motifs in this. I have used A-3 cartridge sheet, marker pens, coloured pencil & gel pens.

I have also posted this on my fb page. Plz do visit and follow my page.

Do drop in with your feedback on the above.

See you next time with my new creation..... hopefully ganesha mural which has been on my wish list for sometime now.

Bye & Take Care !!!!:)

Phad Painting - My new found love

In my endeavour to try something new I have been experimenting with traditional Rajasthani Painting - Phad painting.

Phad Painting is a religious style scroll painting practised in Rajasthan. This kind of painting is done on a long piece of cloth or canvas known as phad. The narratives of the folk deities of Rajasthan especially Pabuji & Devnarayan are depicted on these phad. Scale of the figures depend on the social status of the character in the story. Also in this kind of painting the characters face each other.

The cloth / phad is starched with rice water or flour and then it is rubbed with moonstone to impart stiffness to the same. After the rough sketch is drawn the artist fill it with colour moving from light colour to darker shade. Orange is used for body parts, for ornaments and general design on the clothing yellow colour is used, green for vegetation, brown for monuments, blue for water & red for clothing. Finally it is outlined with black colour that brings out the beauty & intricacies of the characters in the painting.

I have made these paintings on 10" x 12" sized canvas using acrylic colours First one is of Lord Ganesha & the second one is of Radha-Krishna. All these drawings are net inspired & am happy with the way it has come together.

I have tried to stay true to this traditional art as much as possible & I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them. In case you have any suggestion on the same do let me know.

You can also follow me on Instagram for further updates.

Planning to explore Gond painting this week. Hopefully will be back soon with my new creation.

Till then by & take care !!!:)
